Mission Statement: Through a dedicated partnership with the community, we are committed to serving the people by protecting life and property, preventing crime, detecting, identifying and apprehending criminals; and providing these services with compassion and respect, insuring that each person can equally enjoy the constitutional rights guaranteed them. This will be provided with pride, honesty and professionalism.
The Uniform Division of the Sheriff's Department is Supervised by Lieutenant Bill Lux (269-657-2006 Ext. 203). The Uniform Division consists of 27 Deputies, including 4 Sergeants, who perform normal road patrol duties. Deputies patrol 632 square miles within Van Buren County. Six Deputies including a Sergeant operate out of a Satellite Office in Bangor located in the northwest portion of the County. A Detective also operates out of the Satellite office to better serve the citizens of Van Buren County. The Sheriff's Office also contracts Deputies to Keeler, South Haven, Geneva, Columbia, Antwerp, Hamilton and Decatur Townships, the City of Gobles, and the Village of Lawrence. Sheriff's Deputies attend Township meetings within the County each month.
