Sheriff Dale Gribler served as Undersheriff for 16 years before running for the Sheriff's position and being elected in 1996. Sheriff Gribler grew up and has lived and devoted his entire life in Van Buren County.

Undersheriff Paul R. Edwards retired from the Michigan State Police in 2004 after 26 years of service.

Undersheriff Edwards was a first lieutenant and commander at the State Police post in South Haven. After retiring from the State Police in 2004, he spent a year at the Van Buren County Department of Emergency Management working on Homeland Security grants.

He also was law-enforcement-intelligence coordinator for the past three years for Kalamazoo County's Department of Emergency Management.
