In the early morning hours of April 7, 1999 Jesus Lopez went to a residence in Lawrence Twp. Van Buren Co. Michigan where he knew the occupants.
Two teenage girls were at the residence and allowed Jesus Lopez in. Once inside he told one of the girls that he would take them to see her boyfriend. After leaving the residence and driving for some distance the vehicle he was driving stopped. He then allegedly beat both girls, forced them out of the vehicle, tied them up and made them walk to a house trailer that he knew of. At the house trailer he allegedly beat and sexually assaulted both of the girls.
After Jesus Lopez fell asleep, both girls were able to escape and run to a neighbor's house to get help. Jesus Lopez was able to flee the scene and with unknown help leave the state of Michigan. It is believed that Jesus Lopez fled the United States, which he has done in the past, but in the past he has also returned at a later time.
