The Van Buren
County Sheriff's Office has set up
an anonymous tip system that allows community members
to submit crime tip messages by the internet, SMS texting or by
Mobile Apps. Tips submitted through this website are
encrypted, entirely confidential, completely anonymous and are
immediately and securely transferred.
Sheriff Dale R.
Gribler encourages everyone to report information
about any illegal activity,
such as unsolved cases, vandalism, theft, the sale and distribution
of drugs, or information about crimes that are being planned in the
community or schools. Rewards may apply.
These crime tip services are for
non-emergency investigative information only and WILL NOT
generate
a radio call or summon the police to your location.

DISCLAIMER
WITHOUT LIMITING
ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE
TERMS OF USE,
THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS ALSO APPLY TO YOUR USE OF
THE PUBLIC ENGINES SERVICE.
DO NOT RELY ON
THIS SERVICE FOR ANY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER TO
LAW ENFORCEMENT. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE
DIAL 911.
Privacy:
Information submitted to
this Public Engines Service will be processed as outlined in
our
Privacy Policy. Be sure to review these provisions in
order to understand the uses of information you may submit.
Tip Submission and Disposition:
Although we utilize industry standard
encryption and delivery routines, due to the nature of the
Internet and mobile SMS delivery networks, Public Engines
does not guarantee 100% security or timely delivery or
reception of the submitted information. Neither Public
Engines nor its Participating Agencies makes any guarantee
as to (or assumes any responsibility for) if, how or when
any submitted information may or may not be acted upon by
law enforcement. Because submitted tips may not be monitored
by law enforcement after hours and over weekends, you may
wish to consider alternate contact methods if the tip
contains information of a timely nature.
Improper/Illegal Use of this Public Engines Services:
This Web Tip and SMS Tip submission system is provided to
the public for the purpose of anonymously reporting known or
suspected suspicious or criminal activity which has
occurred, or may occur. Any misuse or abuse of this system
is strictly prohibited. MAKING A FALSE REPORT TO LAW
ENFORCEMENT IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE AND MAY BE PUNISHABLE BY
LAW. You acknowledge and confirm that the information you
are providing is not urgent or requiring prompt or immediate
attention, and you understand that you should call 911 or
contact the appropriate authorities by phone if this is time
sensitive information. Children must be 13 years or older or
have parents’ permission to use this service.
SMS Delivery:
There is no direct cost to the public imposed by Public
Engines or its clients to utilize the SMS (text) delivery
for messages from this Public Engines Service. Standard text
messaging rates may apply based on the subscriber’s plan
with their mobile phone carrier. As text message delivery is
subject to mobile carrier network availability, such
delivery is not guaranteed. An SMS opt-out can be requested
at any time by sending the keyword STOP to the applicable
SMS short code (e.g. CRIMES). Text HELP to 274637 (CRIMES)
to get instructions on how to use SMS Tip submission on your
mobile phone.
Message Frequency:
For every message sent by the tipster (MO) there is on
average only one reply from the agency (MT). Most text
dialogs between the tipster and the agency take place over a
time period less than 72 hours and have fewer than 10
messages total sent from the agency (MO). Additional agency
messages (MO) are very rarely sent after this 72 hour time
period.
