On October 15, 2010,
the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office authorized felony warrants for 10
individuals involved in the August 12th incident located at 409 S. Main
Street, Village of Lawton.

Information:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler
reports that on 8/12/2010, at 0800 hrs, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office
Narcotics Unit and the Lawton Police Department executed a narcotics search
warrant at 409 S Main Street in Lawton (Complaint #800318-10).
Sheriff Gribler reported, that on today’s date,
8/13/2010, at approx. 0900 hrs, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office Narcotics
Unit and the Lawton Police Department responded to the same address located at
409 S. Main Street, for a report of another meth lab at this location.
Detectives conducted an investigation which revealed
another active meth lab, as well as numerous items that are used for
manufacturing meth. Through the investigation, it was learned that a 47 year old
man, who resides at this residence, was complaining that the police arrested 4
individuals from the residence who were allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine.
Because of the arrests, the 47 year old stated that he had no means to obtain
any additional meth for his use.
It was reported that the 47 year old male, made contact
with a 32 year old Paw Paw man, who, in turn, delivered an active meth lab as
well as the necessary lab components required to finish off the meth
manufacturing process.
Narcotics Detectives will be seeking criminal charges
in this incident from the Van Buren County Prosecutor Office on the two subjects
for operating/maintaining a meth lab involving hazardous waste.
DEA out of Grand Rapids was contacted
for clean up and the Drug & Lab Disposal out of Plainwell was dispatched to the
scene for the collection of hazardous waste.

Information:
Sheriff Dale R.
Gribler reports that the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office Narcotics
Unit received information from the Lawton Police Dept as to possible meth
activity and it occupants, at 409 S Main Street in Lawton.
Over a two week period, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s
Office Narcotics Unit received additional information from citizen tips. With
the information received, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for
the residence.
On today’s date, at 8:00am, the VBC Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Unit, assisted by the VBC Uniform Response Division, Lawton Police
Dept and DEA Grand Rapids, executed the search warrant.
When Officers approached the back door of the
residence, a subject, who was inside a small shed, opened the door to come out.
This subject was ID as Robert Tonchen. Detectives observed a cot inside the
shed, along with a refrigerator, a freezer and dried/canned food goods. Tonchen
admitted to living inside the shed.
Officers then went into the residence. Located in the
basement were Ottney, Gold, Quick and another male subject. Two additional
subjects were located on the main floor.
A search of the residence was conducted. Located
on the main floor were a large quantity of drug paraphernalia used for smoking
both meth and marijuana, along with a small user amount of meth. Detectives
then searched the basement and located smoking paraphernalia, and several
components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, along with a small
amount of finished meth.
A search of the shed was then conducted and located
inside was a one pot reaction vessel, salt, sulfuric acid, lye, coffee filters,
gas generators, tubing, Camp fuel and other items used in the manufacturing of
methamphetamine.
All four subjects were taken into custody without
incident. They were transported to the Van Buren County Jail and lodged. This
incident remains under investigation for possible charges on the other
subjects.
Drug & Lab Disposal out of Plainwell was dispatched to
the scene for the hazardous waste clean-up.

reports that Van Buren County Sheriff
Detectives from the Narcotics Unit were called to the report of
a methamphetamine lab dumpsite.
Detectives were dispatched to cleanup a large meth lab
dumpsite on 26th Street, north of 66th Avenue in Antwerp Township on Monday,
November 23, 2009. D.E.A. was contacted to clean up hazardous waste in
that case, as some of the pop bottles were off gassing Hydrogen Chloride Gas.
Evidence identifying the suspect was developed through investigation.
Surveillance was conducted throughout the week of the suspect at his employment
in Lawton, Michigan. At lunch time, a female was found driving the suspect’s
vehicle in Lawton. A traffic stop was conducted as she was returning to work
from lunch. The stop was conducted in front of her work on M-40 south of Lawton.
The traffic stop located methamphetamine, marijuana and evidence of meth
production.
The female was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail
pending review by the 7th District Court Magistrate on Thursday, November 26,
2007.
Detectives will be seeking arrest warrants for the male
subject, who fled from work when he saw the traffic stop out front. (The male
and female work together and the female was borrowing the suspect’s car.)

Information:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office
Narcotics Unit ended a two week investigation into the distributing-selling of
methamphetamine from the Angel residence. During the two
week investigation, detectives were able to purchase methamphetamine from
the Angel residence.
As a result of this investigation, narcotics detectives
were able to obtain a search warrant. Seized during the execution of the search
warrant were approximately $400.00 worth of finished methamphetamine,
approximately 6 ounces of ground
pseudoephedrine, a large quantity of lithium
batteries, 6 gallons of camp fuel, Rooto drain cleaner, Lye and other components
used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, packaging materials, digital
scales, drug paraphernalia, and a computer. Seized under the civil forfeiture
laws was approximately $300.00 US currency, cell phones, 1994 Honda motorcycle
and a 2005 KIA vehicle.
Angel was the only occupant of the residence and was
taken into custody without incident on the felony warrant and lodged at the Van
Buren County Jail. A copy of the report will be forwarded to the VBC
Prosecutors office for additional charges of Possession with intent to deliver
methamphetamine and operate-maintain lab involving
methamphetamine.
