old Lawrence woman and her 3 children.

Name of
suspect is being withheld at this time due to this being an ongoing
investigation.

Sheriff Dale R.
Gribler reports that the Lawrence Fire Department responded to a fire call
at 441 W. James Street, Village of Lawrence.
After extinguishing the fire, it was determined that
the fire was suspicious in nature. Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene and
initiated an arson investigation. The mother of the 3 children was not home
at the time of the fire, however her 3 children were. The oldest child
discovered the fire, summoned the fire department and got his siblings out
of the dwelling to safety. A possible suspect was developed after speaking
with the victims.
Deputies proceeded to an address in Covert Township to
attempt to speak to the possible suspect. The subject led a deputy on a
short foot pursuit, which concluded with him being tasered and taken into
custody.
The subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest
and was lodged at the VanBuren County Jail for Resisting and Obstructing a
Police Office and the outstanding warrant.
The arson
investigation remains ongoing and anyone that may have information related
to the arson is asked to call the VanBuren County Sheriff's Office at

Parking lot behind the Red Arrow Bar, 106 E St Joseph St., Lawrence Village,
Van Buren County.
Vehicle:
2001 Cadillac registered to a female out of Paw Paw.
Arrested:

year old Hispanic Male from the Hartford area.

Gribler reports that Deputies were assisting the Van Buren County Narcotics
Unit
at the Red Arrow Bar.
Officers were leaving the Red Arrow Bar parking lot
when Officers observed the suspect driving at a high rate of speed squealing
their tires from E. St. Joseph St. onto S Paw Paw St. in a very reckless
manner. Officers turned on the vehicle which rapidly turned into the Red
Arrow Bar rear parking lot where Officers had just left. The driver of the
vehicle had an open can of beer and appeared to be under the influence of
alcohol.
It was found that the suspect had three prior OWI charges and three
prior DWLS charges. Upon searching the vehicle Officers found what
appeared
to be three baggies of cocaine between the driver's seat and center console of
the vehicle totaling 15.3 grams. Field tests did test positive for cocaine
when tested.
The suspect was
then transported to the Van Buren County Jail where he tested a .19
Blood Alcohol Level, which is over two times the legal limit.
The suspect was lodged on charges of Possession with intent to deliver
cocaine, operating under the influence 3rd, and driving while license
suspended 2nd.

32 year old Hispanic Male from the Covert area.

71 year old white female from Lawrence.

Information: Sheriff
Dale R Gribler reports that Deputies were dispatched to 106 E. Saint Joseph
St. in the Village of Lawrence for a shot fired call.
Upon arrival, responding Deputies discovered that the
suspect had fled the scene just prior to their arrival. Witnesses stated that
the suspect was causing trouble in the bar by harassing some female
customers. The victim attempted to calm the suspect down by placing her hands
on his arms and speaking with him. The suspect then asked the victim what she
thought she was doing by touching him and pulled what appeared to be a small
revolver out of his waste band and pointed it at the victim. A witness then
grabbed the suspect forcing the gun to point towards the ceiling, which was
fired causing a hole in the ceiling. Witnesses then forced the suspect out of
the bar. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel.
Other Officers working in the area of the Red Arrow Bar
attempted to locate the suspect vehicle and as of now have not found it or the
suspect.
This incident is still under investigation by the Van
Buren County Sheriff's Office.

Victim #1: The 31 year old victim sustained injuries
to the head, torso, and legs.

to the head.

R. Gribler reports that Van Buren County Deputies were dispatched to the area
of East Saint Joseph St., near Paw Paw St., in the Village of Lawrence for a
felonious assault involving 5 to 6 suspects armed with bats and clubs.
It was reported that 2 of the suspects held down the
victims while the other 3 to 4 suspects assaulted the victims with bats and
clubs. The suspects fled the scene prior to Deputies arriving.
Both the victims and suspects had been in a local
liquor establishment in the Village of Lawrence prior to this incident
occurring. The victims were transported to the Watervliet Hospital for
treatment.
This incident is currently under investigation by the
Van Buren County Sheriff's Department.
