accident. Speed was not a factor in this accident.
Information:
Sheriff Dale
R. Gribler reports a fatal motorcycle accident involving 18 year old Dillon
Reed of Bloomingdale. The accident occurred on 7/19/2010 at 1245 p.m. on CR
380 east of 39 1/2 Street.
Reed was eastbound on CR 380 East of 39 1/2 street on
his motorcycle when a large Turkey Buzzard bird flew across his path.
Investigation determined Reed was not speeding. The Turkey Buzzard impacted
with Reed in the chest area causing him to loose control of his motorcycle go
off the road and strike some trees. Reed was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Accident Reconstruction Team and The Van Buren County Medical Examiner.

Narrative:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that Van Buren county sheriff deputies were
called to investigate a residential break-in located in the 35000 block of Mill
Lake Road.
Deputies investigation into the incident discovered
that, not only had the home been broke into, but surrounding outbuildings as
well. The suspect(s) did drive a green John Deere Gator around during the
incident then returned it back to the scene as it was the victims.
There were several items taken. Some of the items was
a Super Nintendo play system, water pump, numerous boating tubes, rototiller,
lawn vacuum, snowmobile trailer modified for lawn clean up w/ sides installed,
weed wacker,28 gallon portable gas tank on wheels, 12 volt batteries, theater
system, DVD players, vhs players, and other items.

Information:
Sheriff Dale R.
Gribler reports the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit received a
citizens tip as to the location of Thomson, who was wanted on an
outstanding Felony warrant for dangerous drugs.
Narocotics detectives set up surveillance on the
residence and observed a vehicle matching the description given, pull into the
driveway.
Detectives immediately
pulled in behind the vehicle.
Detectives made contact with the male driver of the vehicle asking for his
ID. The male subject gave detectives a name that turned out to be false. He
was ID as Peter Thomson and was taken into custody. A search was conducted on
the vehicle they drove up
in, and located
inside was pseudoephedrine which was just purchased from a Kalamazoo store.
A search of the residence was then conducted. Located
in an Igloo cooler, were all the components / chemicals necessary to manufacture
meth. Also located was a small amount of finished meth, used syringes, and a
user amount of marijuana.
Both Thomson and Hewitt were transported to the VBC
Jail and lodged.

40000 Block of CR388, Bloomingdale Township.
Information:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that deputies were called to the 40000 block of
CR388 for a Break-in that had occurred.
It was found that the suspect's broke in, and drove
their vehicle into the building which is now used for storage. Once inside, the
suspect's hooked up to a tandem axle tilt car trailer. They then loaded 2
quads, a wood stove, numerous floor jacks, numerous computer's & computer
equipment, and other items.
The suspect's also jacked up a
stored car, and took the tires and rims off of it. Anyone having information in

Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that deputies
handled 3 separate cases of tires being slashed within the Village of
Bloomingdale. All three cases appear to be related. The MDOP's occurred
sometime in the early morning hours of today's date.

Denis Koch, 55 years, Bloomingdale Resident.
INJURIES TO DRIVER:
Numerous Cuts and Abrasion, Closed Head Injury.
INFORMATION:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that on Sunday
August 23, 2009 at approximately 4:15 pm, Deputies were dispatched to 20th
Avenue just east of 41st Street, Bloomingdale Township, for numerous
911 calls reporting that a ATV overturned with the driver sustained multiple
injuries.
Investigation determined that Denis Koch, Bloomingdale,
was operating a 2001, 4X4 ATV Four Wheeler on the public roadway when Koch turned
his head to look behind him, this caused Koch to lose control of the ATV with
the ATV overturning ejecting Koch onto the Paved roadway. Koch was knocked
unconscious and subsequently transported to Bronson Hospital for his injuries
where he was admitted. Koch was not wearing a helmet.
The investigation is still currently open.

Narrative:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that a Deputy
attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding, 75 in a
55 MPH zone. The above vehicle then fled
from the Deputy at a high rate of
speed north on CR 665 then turned eastbound on CR
380. The vehicle ended up going off the road through a ditch and into a field.
The driver then fled on foot into a residence nearby. The driver turned himself over to the Deputy a short time later.
He was
arrested for Fleeing & Eluding and Driving While License Suspended. The
drivers name cannot be released until after he has been arraigned.

Narrative:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that a deputy was dispatched to the above
location for two parties arguing over a child custody incident. The
responding Deputy immediately noticed
injuries on the female. An investigation was done over the incident and found that the male boyfriend had
punched and strangled the girlfriend causing the injuries listed above.
The male was arrested for domestic violence.
Name to be released after arraignment.
