Vehicle Information:
1993 Crest Pontoon 25ft. pleasure
boat.
Information:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that
the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Marine Division was on patrol on Scott
Lake in Arlington Township, on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at approximately 2:15 am.
Marine Deputies made contact with the boat
operator while he was operating a pontoon boat with five additional passenger in
the early morning hours on Scott Lake. Marine Deputies found the
boat operator to be under the influence of alcohol. The boat and passenger were
safely taken to their dock.
The boat operator was subsequently arrested for
Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail pending
arraignment. The investigation has been turned over to the Van Buren County
Prosecutor’s Office.

Gribler reports that the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Marine Division was on
patrol on Scott Lake in Arlington Township, on Friday, June 25, 2010 at
approximately 7:00 pm.
Marine Deputies made contact with the boat
operator while he was operating a pleasure boat with one additional passenger in
the evening hours on Scott Lake. Marine Deputies found the boat operator to be
under the influence of alcohol. The boat and passenger were safely taken to
their dock.

Information -
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that a deputy responded to a personal injury,
car-deer crash on M-43 near County Road 673 in the early morning hours of
11-22-09. Medical personnel and witnesses were on scene and tending to the
driver upon the deputy's arrival.
During investigation, it was determined
that Drew was eastbound on M43 Hwy and was unable to avoid a collision with a
deer. The deer had ran from the ditch line, running perpendicular to the
road, directly into the path of Drew's vehicle. Just prior to the impact, the
deer jumped, causing the initial impact of the collision to be concentrated on
the windshield and front door pillar area of the vehicle. The windshield area
was crushed due to the collision, causing minor head injuries and hand-arm
injuries to Drew.
Drew was transported to South Haven Community Hospital for
treatment of her injuries. Assisting Agencies:

Department and Coloma EMS.

R. Gribler reports that a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 93'
Chevy pick-up for driving left of center on CR 215 near 40th Ave in Arlington
Township on Saturday,
September 27, 2009 at approximately 2:20 a.m. The Driver
of the truck then turned onto 40th Ave. and failed to stop for the Deputy
who was now following him with his lights and sirens activated. The driver
then continued to 52nd St. and headed north bound to 28th Avenue. The
Driver then crossed back over CR 215 west bound on 28th Ave. The driver
pulled into a private drive in the 56,000 block of 28th Ave. The driver then
led Deputies and Bangor Police officer's on a short foot pursuit before being
caught and placed into custody.
Avila was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail
for Fleeing and Eluding Police and OWI 1st offense.

3 Count Warrants for Larceny less than $200 on 2 of the men involved in
this incident. The suspects have been arrested by the Van Buren County
Sheriffs Office and have been arraigned in the 7th Dist Court West in
South Haven for the above listed charges.

INFORMATION:
Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports Sheriffs Deputies received information that
subjects on County Road 673 in Arlington Twp had in their possession numerous
road signs and local area business signs.
Deputies had received complaints on
the thefts in the late summer of 2008 until early 2009, however, no suspects were
developed at that time. Deputies proceeded to the location on County Road 673
and made contact with suspects there. During the course of the investigation
the signs were recovered from the garage area of the home as well as numerous
yellow flashing portable construction barrel lights.
Deputies turned the signs
over to the Van Buren County Road Commission who identified the labeled and
numbered signs and provided the locations from which they were taken. The other
business signs that were also seized have been turned over to the rightful
owners.
It is believed that the signs have been taken from the Townships of
Geneva, Columbia, Bangor, Bloomingdale, Arlington and South Haven.
The
investigation is ongoing however a report will be submitted to the Van Buren
County Prosecutors Office requesting the appropriate charges in regards to this
incident.
